This publication is part of the activities of CHAM's Permanent Seminar on African Studies. It features a series of contributions from authors who have been adding new theoretical and critical data on African texts, along with the introduction, dissemination and analysis of outputs in the fields of arts, education, history and culture.
The first three texts deal with authors or literary works; the fourth explores connections between literature and ethnography; the next two are about cinema, namely the film ‘A Batalha de Tabatô’; this is followed by a paper on hip-hop in Cape Verde; and the book ends with a research paper on educational issues in São Tomé and Príncipe.
The strategic subject ‘Frontiers’ is present in this volume not only through the obvious disciplinary diversity achieved, but also by the fact that the compiled texts question historical, social and creative realities through new avenues of critical exercise.
