Synopsis

A work carried out by a multidisciplinary team of researchers who, in almost all of its members, have long studied palace architecture and its various components that include, in addition to urbanism, decorative arts and garden architecture, extending, in this case, to theatre and related cultural practices. The project was also able to encompass the other "houses" of the same family, namely the Quintela-Farrobo Palace in Rua do Alecrim, in Lisbon, and the Farrobo Palace in Vila Franca de Xira, with the aim of detecting a productive circulation between these various achievements that extend from the 1780s to the 1850s, going through the change from absolutism to liberalism that, as is well known, it could only be consolidated at the cost of a cruel civil war (1832-1834).
