Sinopsis

A obra que agora se dá ao prelo, no âmbito da recém-criada coleção de e-books do ICNOVA – Instituto de Comunicação da NOVA FCSH, integra uma seleção de comunicações à Conferência Internacional sobre Diversidade e Pluralismo nos Média, realizada a 28 e 29 de setembro na FCSH – Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Por sua vez, a conferência internacional constituiu o ponto de encerramento do projeto de investigação DIVinTV – Televisão pública e diversidade cultural em Portugal: um estudo sobre a programação dos canais públicos generalistas, em matéria de pluralidade de expressão cultural, diversidade e inclusão (PTDC/IVCCOM/4968/2014), coordenado por Francisco Rui Cádima. Tratou-se de um projeto aprovado ainda no âmbito do antigo CIMJ – Centro de Investigação Media e Jornalismo, iniciado já em 2016 e concluído, portanto, no final de setembro de 2018. De referir que o CIMJ integra hoje o Instituto ICNOVA, que é o centro de referência das Ciências da Comunicação da NOVA FCSH.

Francisco Rui Cádima is currently a senior researcher at ICNOVA – NOVA Institute of Communication - http://www.icnova.fcsh.unl.pt (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa), where he coordinates the Observatory of Diversity and Pluralism. He founded and he was the Principal Investigator (PI) of NOVA Institute of Communication – ICNOVA research center (2017-2021). At the same time he was director and board member of the Portuguese journal Media & Jornalismo - https://impactum-journals.uc.pt/mj (Scopus indexed). Since 2015, he coordinates the Portuguese team of the MPM project – Media Pluralism Monitor – Monitoring Risks for Media Pluralism in EU Member States. CMPF/European University Institute. He was also Coordinator of the FCT project PTDC/IVC-COM/4968/2014 – DIVinTV - Public television and cultural diversity in Portugal (2014-2018). https://www.icnova.fcsh.unl.pt/en/divintv-en/ Full Professor, retired, at the Department of Communications Sciences – NOVA FCSH – School of Social Sciences and Humanities – NOVA University of Lisbon (1982-2021). At FCSH, he was namely member of the School Scientific Board (2013-2018) and several times Department Coordinator, as well as Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme in Communication Sciences at the same Department (2016-2021), and Coordinator of the Master's Course on New Media and Web Practices (2007-2021). Additionally, he was Principal Investigator (PI) at CIC.Digital - Center for Research in Communication, Information and Digital Culture (2013-2017); Vice-president of CIMJ – Media and Journalism Research Centre (2012-2013). In 1984, he was founder and board member of CECL – Centre for Communication and Language Studies, the first Portuguese communication research centre (the latter two – CIMJ and CECL, are currently integrated into ICNOVA). He was Director of Obercom - Observatório da Comunicação (Communication Observatory), from 1999-2004. He was also the representative of Portugal at UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) (2001-2005). He was Director or board member of other scientific journals in the communication sector, such as Observatório (Obercom), Revista de Comunicação e Linguagens (CECL) and Tendências XXI (APDC), and member of several editorial boards of scientific journals, such as Associate Advisor of TELOS - Cuadernos de Comunicación e Innovación, (2002-2017), a scientific journal of Fundación Telefónica, at the invitation of Enrique Bustamante. Member of work teams of national commissions such as the Reflection Committee on the Future of Television (1996) and the Green Book for the Information Society (1997). Member of several associations and sectoral councils, namely member of the Opinion Councils of RDP and RTP (public radio and television). He has a PhD in Communication (NOVA FCSH, 1993) with a dissertation entitled Political System and Information News on RTP (Portugal's Public Broadcasting station) Under the Portuguese Dictatorship (1957-1974). In addition to hundreds of other interventions (scientific articles, book chapters and public conferences), he is the author/co-author of several books on media, audiovisual and digital (see the latest):  • O (Des)Controlo da Internet – Sobre pluralismo e diversidade na rede.
