Synopsis

In October 2019, the 3rd Autumn School of Medieval Studies and the 4th International Conference on the Middle Ages were held in Castelo de Vide, the latter around the theme Supplying the city in medieval Europe. A year later, thanks to the support of the Castelo de Vide City Council, a collection of texts selected from among those presented at these two events is now available to the public, after having undergone a double peer review. Despite the difficulties posed by the current pandemic context to the development of research work, it is possible to publish a set of thirty texts written by thirty-three researchers from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and the United States of America. This work, which reveals and expands on the lessons of the Autumn School and the plenary lectures and papers of the Days, continues the aim that has always been associated with the organization of these two events: to go beyond the narrower scope of those who took part in them to reach wider audiences, through the dissemination, in paper and digital format, of new, high-quality knowledge about the medieval city.
