Synopsis

The International Conference on the Middle Ages and the Autumn School in Medieval Studies brought together 26 texts - three were the result of lessons presented at the Autumn School - written by 29 researchers from Argentina, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Turkey and Spain. All of them benefited from the observations and comments made in the debates that took place in the different sessions, as well as from the meticulous and evaluative eyes of the evaluators who gave them a preliminary critical reading. The majority of the articles focus, as is to be expected, on the Iberian kingdoms, but there are others that address more distant geographies, such as the Balkans, Scandinavia, Flanders or Italy. The predominant chronological period corresponds to the final centuries of the Middle Ages, a choice which, in the case of the Iberian Peninsula, once again does not come as a surprise, given the well-known limitations of documentary availability for the first medieval centuries.
